About the Online WordPress Community
If you are seeking a place to connect with WordPress developers and content managers of all skill levels, consider joining the Nonprofit Technology Network’s (NTEN) online WordPress Community.
We are 267 members and growing, composed of a nice mix of developers (front-end, back-end and full stack) and content managers. We have nonprofit professionals, professionals who work at web dev companies and freelancers.
No matter what question you post to the board, you always get a bunch of perspectives and a solid group of answers from these folks. No snark or condescension here, our community honors and respects its members, regardless of skill level.

How We Got Started
The community grew from a thought I had many years ago, when the Drupal content management system was the largest platform of focus at NTEN’s annual conference. I was using WordPress for website development and wanted to find other NTEN members doing the same. I facilitated a breakout session several years in a row at the conference, “A WordPress Users Gathering,” and started to rally the tribe.
It only made sense to start the online group when that feature became available on the NTEN website. I located several other co-organizers, Venky Nalluri, Yesenia Sotelo and Amar Trivedi, who were instrumental in first few years in helping to get the group going.
In year 3, we had some admin turnover, and Jason King and Mark Root-Wiley stepped up as co-organizers. In spring 2017, I joined the board of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. Knowing that would require a good deal of time, I decided it was time to “retire” from the WordPress organizer role. Jason, Mark and I asked fellow group member Tara Collins to take my slot on the team.
I have been so fortunate in all of my co-organizers with this group, and also need to throw a shoutout to Bethany Lister at NTEN, the online community goddess who keeps us all motivated!
While I’m a bit sad to be stepping down from the co-organizer role, I’m pleased that the community is strong and that it is in good, capable hands with Tara, Jason and Mark.
