Metrics for Evaluating Nonprofit Performance

The following is a guest post by Steve Hollis of FocusCFO. FocusCFO that has been providing part-time CFO services to small and medium sized businesses ($1-30M in revenue) since 2001. They manage three key areas: cash flow, business risk and scalable growth, resulting in increased value in the business. They do this on a fractional basis, meaning clients get all the advantages of a full-time CFO on terms that are flexible and affordable, working under a recurring schedule that fits within their … [Read more...] about Metrics for Evaluating Nonprofit Performance

The Ella Project – Providing STEM role models for girls

I am so honored to have been recently added as a featured woman in tech on The Ella Project's website! The Ella Project was created "to ensure that girls have a hero to which they can identify, a hero with a background and passion for science, technology, engineering, math, and entrepreneurship." On the home page, you can find the stories of remarkable women who have shared their stories: what inspires them, how they've achieved success, and some advice for future leaders. Coronavirus & business continuity planning

They say a little planning goes a long way. Raise your hand if your nonprofit organization had a pre-pandemic business continuity plan in place. If your hand is in the air, excellent. Thinking back to my first time at the NTC, I remember being in a state of ecstasy and overwhelm for much of the event. So many … [Read more...] about A First-Timer’s Guide to Enjoying the Nonprofit Technology Conference

Recent WordPress updates & why you should always update your website ASAP

An interesting thing happened this month that I can't recall ever seeing before. WordPress released a new version of its software, and then the very next day, released another update. Version 4.9.3 fixed 34 vulnerabilities in the software. Version 4.9.4 fixed the WordPress automatic update feature that broke for many sites after 4.9.3 was installed. I thought about all the nonprofits I've ever met who fail to update WordPress regularly and decided to write this post. About automatic … [Read more...] about Recent WordPress updates & why you should always update your website ASAP

How to Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep before a Big Event

This week is a guest post containing the most useful tips for getting the proper rest before a significant happening, written by Will Taylor, Event Planner. How to Ensure a Good Night's Sleep before a Big Event There’s just one day left until your philanthropic gala, and you still feel like there are a thousand things to be done. But worrying will only make you lose sleep, which is the worst that could happen: instead of being relaxed and able to hold a fantastic event, you'll feel tired, … [Read more...] about How to Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep before a Big Event
